Théâtre des Champs Élysées

Alexander Melnikov  piano
Isabelle Faust  violin
Jean-Guihen Queyras  cello

Three exceptional artists all playing from the same score. A multiplicity of nuances feature in this programme of Schumann and Schubert

Schumann  Trio No.3 op. 110
Schubert  Trio No.1 opus 99 D.898

They are an unusually cohesive and refined trio onstage and in the recording studio alike. A perfect harmony exists between the enigmatic and deep Russian pianist, the intense, dazzling German violinist and the distinguished and audacious French cellist. Our three performers invite us to a red letter programme. With Schumann’s Trio no. 3, composed in 1851, they attack a work an oft-neglected work from the composer’s last period. Its feverish, heady Romanticism is quite outstanding.
