A lush programme where dream and fantasy vie with each other in the performances of these world-class musicians. Emmanuel Pahud and Marie-Pierre Langlamet, ambassadors for their instrument, have been soloists with the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic since 1993, while also pursuing successful international careers. Selected for the BBC New Generation Artist scheme for the 2013-2015 seasons, Lise Berthaud is now making her mark as a major viola player. Witty Mozart, contemplatively languorous Fauré, and the sensuous rhythms of Bizet: the works on the programme epitomise the pleasurable and seductive power of the three instruments. Lastly, the miraculous alchemy of the tones of Debussy’s major scores combine to magical effect with the freedom cherished by the composer.
