Nelson Goerner piano
Hailed by the critics for his Chopin recordings, the Argentine pianist takes on the challenge of the composer's 24 preludes
Chopin Polonaise op. 44
Two nocturnes op. 62
24 Preludes op. 28
This Argentinian artist – whose self-effacing personality dismays those who consider him to be not just one of the most impressive pianists of our day, but also a master who invests every note with meaning – continues to plough a fruitful furrow. He is very close to his compatriot Martha Argerich, with whom he plays regularly, and is one of the few people able to follow her eccentricities, whimsies, and teeming imagination. He is particularly at home with the Romantic repertoire and ranks among the major interpreters of Chopin. A deliberately orchestral style of playing, a vast colour palette, a wide range of nuances, a lack of affectation and a natural voice allow the works of the poet Nohant, and his kaleidoscopic moods, to blaze with light.
