Reinhold Friedrich, considered one of the finest contemporary trumpet players, is the soloist with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, formed by Claudio Abbado. His repertoire is vast, encompassing Baroque music and contemporary compositions.

For this concert, he will play two concertos which epitomise the Baroque repertoire. These pieces, renowned for their virtuosity and elegance, were composed by two musicians whose work remains undervalued. Michael Haydn, brother of Joseph Haydn, and Johann Nepomuk Hummel left behind a vast repertoire whose scores exerted a major influence on Mozart and Beethoven, among others. Douglas Boyd will therefore also conduct Beethoven’s Symphony No.4
