Thilloy Exil, Symphony No. 10 (world premiere)
The opening concert of the Orchestre Lamoureux’s symphony season invites us to embark on a journey, with Azerbaijan as the guest of honour. Numerous Azeri artists will introduce the musical culture of the “pearl of the Caucasus”, dominating the opening of the “Silk and Fire” festival (‘De Soie et de Feu’), organised by Pierre Thilloy, new artistic director of the Orchestre Lamoureux. The instruments of the Lamoureux musicians will mingle with the tar and kamantcha and soloists from Azerbaijan to make the Théâtre echoes with the dulcet sounds of the East.
Over a century after its first performance by the Orchestre Lamoureux, the orchestra will remain true to its affection for French repertoire by placing Paul Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice centre-stage. This orchestra prizes innovation and the concert will also feature the world premiere of Pierre Thilloy’s Symphony No. 10, Exil. (Exile).
This promises to be an intense emotional experience.
