The term “prodigy” can sometimes seem hackneyed and yet it is perfectly epitomised by young Russian Daniil Trifonov. Perhaps this can be attributed to his accordion-maker ancestors, choirmaster grandmother, rock music composer father and music theory teacher mother. This young man really has an impressive pedigree! This may go some way towards explaining his colossal technique, noble expressivity and acute sense of musical inventiveness. It is difficult to resist his appeal.
